Day 8: A Photo of Something Up Close

This was one of the first pictures I took with my 35mm/f 1.8 lens. I absolutely love it. Isn’t it wild how something as simple as a leaf can be this interesting? Since I’m a bio nerd at heart, seeing the epidermal cells like this makes me happy. 1277_2-3-80

Ahh life’s wonders never cease to amaze me! Big and small.

PS- I’m heading to the coast tomorrow for our camping trip! So I may have to postpone the challenge until I get back because there’s not gonna be wifi in the campground :)

Happy Memorial Day!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday night was Bunko! I didn’t win anything but as always it was good company and lots

of yummy food!

Saturday I was busy sanding and priming (and sanding and priming again) my roadkill rescue bookshelf that I picked up a while back. Nicole and I had plans to work on some pieces Sunday so I was doing my homework prior and getting it all prepped.

I also ran some errands with my Mom & Dad for some last minute things needed for camping this weekend!

Saturday night I made plans to go visit the Dawkins fam. I not-so-subtly invited myself to stay the night since it’s such a long way to their house. I love going out there but hate the long drive home when I’m tired and there’s deer everywhere. At least I think there are! Anywho, we had a good time and I got lots of good baby loving in :) We walked around Renee’s momma’s yard for a good while taking pictures of all of life’s wonders. We also had an imprompty dandelion-blowing photoshoot. Haha! Here’s our version of trying to re-create this picture…

And now, here’s us trying to replicate…

Renee’s actually looks pretty good!

1277_2-3-347

I struggled…my little petal thingies wouldn’t fly off so I blew REALLY hard and thar she blows! See ‘em?!

1277_2-3-349

Bahaha!!

It’s apparent that I’ll never learn how to properly set my camera for dusk action shots without a flash, so these will have to do.

I did get some pretty cool ones though of the garden and other stuff.

Lookout if she is playing! She will take you out with that arm!

1277_2-3-353

We ate a delicious dinner and played Wii all night. JUST realized though I didn’t get a single pic of Brody! Shucks!

So fun! Thanks for having me y’all!

I was home from Renee’s by 8:00 on Sunday because I had to get ready to be at Nicole’s by 9.

We spent the first half of the day painting some furniture. Nicole (& her pooch Hudson) were working on a tall shelving system and I was working on my RR*. Hers came out great and was in a fun shade of turquoise. Mine on the other hand, well it still needs work. I primed it twice and painted it once, all with white paint, and there are still imperfections showing through. Majorly.

Nicole’s helper and sweet pup Hudson. I am mildly obsessed with taking pictures of cute doggies. And maybe I’m biased, but labs are the best :)

After! It’s now an awesome shoe rack. The girl has some shoes ;)

I didn’t get a pic of mine since it’s not finished. Guess I will just have to keep painting, like a coat a day to get it covered. But the back, which is green, covered nicely! I’ll be sure to post the finished product when it’s completed. (it’s gonna be a while…)

T minus 2 days til we head out on our Annual Memorial Day camping trip! It’s the maiden voyage for our camper so let’s hope all goes well. Ahhh glorious beach and sunny skies, I’m SO looking forward to spending lots of time with you this weekend!

Day 6: A Silhouette Photo

I am switching Day 6 and 7 because I thought I was on topic 7 but was not. Also I am skipping weekends so it'll be the "30 day challenge" plus a few more days :)

SO, here's a picture I took out at Mrs. Sissy's house (Renee's momma). I lurve it. Done two ways because I couldn't decide which I liked best.

Weekend Wrap-Up will be posted tomorrow!

Day 5: A Photo of Whatever You Please

This is Maui. Did you know we have bunny rabbits? Maui has a sister, Penelope. P is camera shy and Maui is the boss hence the reason she’s the only one in the picture. They are about 6 year old dwarf rabbits. They keep to themselves in their big bunny condo.

Day 4: A Photo From a High Angle

Hmm, I thought this one would be fun but I didn’t take enough pictures to get a great one. So this weird one of the pupper dog will have to do! I stood on top of the deck rail so with the deck height + my height (5’6”) + the rail, I was probably about 11 feet up.

1277_2-3-318

Annnnnddd, here’s a sneak peak of what I’ve been up to tonight…more to come this weekend when I finish it! Nicole and I have a painting date :)

Right now I’m in love…

…with nail polish! So anyone who knows me, knows I’m a nail biter. Have been my whole life. It’s a gross habit and I hate that I do it, but I can’t help it. Or should I say, couldn’t?

*Knock on Wood*

This is the longest stretch that I’ve ever had nails and managed not to bite them all off. When I “get” my nails done a few times a year, and by that, I mean acrylics, I keep them on for a few weeks, take em off, and I’m left with real nails. Because that’s the only time I can grow them from scratch -  if I have fake ones on prior and they actually get a chance to grow!

SO, I took the fake ones off several weeks ago and I’m happy to report I still have nails! I’ve even cut them down once as they were getting long enough to start ripping. That’s usually when I lose the battle and turn them back into nubs. Lovely I know. BUT, I’ve been staying strong and even managed to make it through the presentation week when I thought for sure they would not last due to my nervous nail-biting habit.

When I actually have nails kicking, I love to paint them. Seriously every day. They are by not long, but short and manicured. I either re-paint the same color or take off and put on a new one. If they start to chip, I start to bite them and then it’s over. So I have to keep them up!

Okay so that brings me to the nail polish obsession I’ve had recently. I’ve managed to collect some lovely hues over the past few weeks. I don’t buy much polish. Maybe a 99 cent bottle a few times a year. However, I “splurged” on two $6 bottles of Revlon. That’s a lot for me. Like two whole Chick Fil A meals. But they were pretty, had good coverage, and David didn’t know they cost $6 each. Boys don’t understand. But I honestly have never bought “that expensive” nail polish so I treated myself.

1277_2-3-313

Stormy on the left and Demure on the right. LOVE stormy!

I also have been loving the Forever 21 colors lately. I’ve never really noticed their nail polish but while in the checkout line with my SIL a few weeks back, I started picking through and bought two, and recently bought two more. They have some FUN colors! They don’t have names though.

1277_2-3-315   1277_2-3-312

I don’t own many blue hues, but I have seen lots of them around lately and thought I’d give them a shot. Haven’t worn the darker of the blues, but I LOVED the light blue! So Caribbean-like and great for summer!

Today I am wearing Demure by Revlon.

1277_2-3-316

Yesterday I was wearing the no-name Forever 21 light blue.

1277_2-3-317

I hate up-close pictures of my hands. I’ve never had dainty girly fingers so excuse the ogre-like ones. Even my ring finger has a little fat roll. Oh well. At least I have 10 of them. And you may not notice, but the ridges in my nails are from the acrylics, the polish is really thick and smooth it’s just on top of a not-so-flat nail. Oh and I didn’t mean for this to be a “ring shot” but honestly my left hand is cuter and the paint job looks better since I’m right handed. True story.

And off the nail polish subject, tonight we went to Po’ Boys to celebrate Sarah’s birthday! We were very entertained by the 5 kiddos that kept their parents busy! I had a delicious Buffalo Chicken Po’ Boy. Yum!

David & Fish-man!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH! Glad we got to celebrate with y’all!

Mmm kay so there’s my random hump day post!

Oh and Pee-Ess! (that’s PS in case you don’t know), I am buying photoshop tonight. So stinkin’ excited. I don’t know yet if I can purchase and download now or if I have to wait to receive the software via snail mail. I think I’ll be buying it from B&H Photo where it’s about $80 and there’s an additional $20 rebate. Now I can finally do stuff like Boost Eyes Using Photoshop and the Pioneer Woman's Photoshop Actions! Yay!

Day 3: A Photo of Your Favorite Place to Be

I couldn’t exactly go visit today to take a picture, but here’s one I took in December of 2010 of one of my most favorite places to be. That’d be Main Street U.S.A in Disneyworld. Being in my favorite place at Christmastime? Even better :)

Day 2: A Photo of What You Wore Today

1277_2-3-308

Okay I know I have big legs, but this photo makes them larger due to the lovely shadow behind them. In fact there's a weird shadow closely outlining my whole body. Not good for the slimming effect but I have already changed and gone for a run so there's no retaking it!

This is my once a week go-to. Black dress from Target that I’ve had for probably 6 years.

If I remembered this morning what today’s photo post was, I would not have dressed any cuter have put a little more thought into my outfit. But I want this challenge to be most true to my life, so here ya go!
